Michael Monroe, “MN Acoustic Music Master,” (Star Tribune) performs original music on vocals, crystal/bamboo flutes and plays Seaton Guitars from the Gunflint Trail, hand-crafted with 200 year-old wood from the bottom of Lake Superior.

Monroe’s award winning instrumental soundtracks have been featured on PBS/CBC, Toronto Enviro/New York Indie Film Fests in “Chased By The Light”, as well as receiving an Emmy for “Soaring On Mended Wings.”

Monroe returned to the Twin Cities following 28 years on the North Shore of Lake Superior near Grand Marais 11 of which were “off the grid” where he recorded his first 12 albums using solar power He presented Log Cabin Concerts in his cabin for 800 people a year for 17 years which were featured on KSTP’s Jason Davis’ OnTheRoad, in Lake Superior and Cabin Life Magazines. Minnesota’s Peter Mayer has been singing and songwriting full-time for 25 years, performing in venues across the United States and beyond. He writes songs for a small planet–songs about interconnectedness and the human journey–songs about life on earth and the mysterious and wondrous fact of our existence. He also writes songs about dress hats, pumpkins and pajamas, and even love and freight trains just like a good folk musician should. His music has been performed by artists like Kathy Mattea, David Wilcox, Claudia Schmidt, Anne Hills, Priscilla Herdman, Darryl Purpose, Billy Jonas, and Ronny Cox, to name a few. His work has been included in song books, church hymnals, and folk radio playlists across the country. Peter has eleven albums to his credit, and has sold over 100,000 of them. Plymouth’s free summer entertainment series, Hilde Nights returns for a second year with more opportunities to enjoy live music at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd.

This year’s inaugural Hilde Nights show is set for 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 20, featuring the Fabulous Armadillos. WHAT TO EXPECT:

• Concert start time 3pm
• Concert seating begins 2pm.
• Seating is generally concert style (limited high top tables) and seats are assigned at purchase.
• Concert lasts about 90 minutes including a short intermission to stretch, purchase dessert or snack box and wine.
• Lunch reservation is prior to concert. Reservations open 12:15pm-1:30pm. Purchase lunch reservations here.
• Concert guests without lunch reservations have bar service (beverages and snack box/cheesecake options) in concert area (Stateroom).
• Wine bar will be open 1 hour additional after concert; wine service only (no food).
• Intermission will offer wine, our NA bev and beer list, snack box and cheesecake option.

This production is all about women bringing new life to music made famous by men. It’s a girl-powered reboot of acoustic hits and deep tracks by Neil Young, CSN, America, The Eagles and more.

Familiar songs shimmer anew under the spell of siren-voices Carin Vagle, Karen Paurus and Heather Moen. Celtic twist added by internationally renowned wind-powered artist, Laura MacKenzie. Acoustic guitar by Billy McLaughlin with Dan Ristrom (bass), Patrick Nelson (drums), Nathan Wilson (fiddle/mandolin) and Lisa Z (keyboards).
